Thuja Golden Spire

Thuja Plicata

DiamondLawnCare

Description

A stunning addition to any landscape; the Thuja Golden Spire is quickly becoming a national favorite because it is so easy to grow and looks stunning. The color of this beautiful evergreen, transitions from a dazzling ‘lime green’ in the warmer months, to a golden ‘yellow/orange’ in the fall and winter. The main branches turn dark red as the weather cools, creating a dazzling contrast against the feathery golden foliage. If you are looking for an eye-catching ‘POP’ of year-round color that requires little or no maintenance….You will love this disease resistant shrub.

The Thuja Golden Spire can be planted alone – as a focal point, in groups – as a colorful backdrop for your border plants, or side by side – to create a dense golden hedge that will enhance your property and ensure your privacy. This amazing, worry-free plant will grow very quickly (up to 5-feet/per year), providing an almost instant gardening gratification. The fully developed Thuja Golden Spire will reach a height of 12 to 15 feet and a width of 3 to 4 feet. This is the perfect plant for your small spaces and can even be used as the foundation piece for large ‘potted’ displays. It grows in a compact conical shape which requires no pruning and little or no fertilization.

Planting

The fully developed Thuja Golden Spire will reach a height of 12 to 15 feet and a width of 3 to 4 feet. This is the perfect plant for your small spaces and can even be used as the foundation piece for large ‘potted’ displays. It grows in a compact conical shape which requires no pruning and little or no fertilization.

If you choose the Thuja Golden Spire for privacy, simply plant them 2 to 5 feet apart and watch them grow rapidly into a thick and colorful hedge that will be the envy of your neighborhood. Once the plants have reached your desired height, simply trim off the ‘single’ main branch at the top of each plant to create a perfectly manicured hedge.

Watering

This incredible plant will stand up to the strongest of winds, winter lows of up to -30° and extreme summer heat. Unlike its ancestors, the Thuja Golden Spire is resistant to sunburn and to brown dying branches – This means that you will never have to worry about unsightly dead spots or holes in its thick golden foliage.
