Sonic Bloom® Weigela

Weigela florida ‘BOKrasopin’

DiamondLawnCareDescription

With the Sonic Bloom®, you can an amazing flurry of bright pink-red blooms on a neat, compact silhouette. And even better is the fact that it reblooms, delivering rich color from May until the first frost.

But despite its unmatched elegance, the Weigela takes care of itself. When it comes to your Weigela Shrub, you won’t have to deadhead spent blooms or spend hours toiling in your garden. You get brilliant waves of vibrant pink flowers starting in May, with color that keeps coming until the first frost of the year!

Bigger blooms, bolder color, and blankets of full petals give you the best yard on the block. It’s the strongest reblooming weigela variety ever developed, so you get hundreds of flowers. It’s no wonder why you see these in high-end neighborhoods as a colorful flowering hedge. But they look great anywhere…in garden beds, in foundation plantings, and even in containers next to your entryway.

Planting

Start by choosing an area with full sun to partial sun (at least 4 hours of sunlight daily) and well-drained soil – the Sonic Bloom® is adaptable to nearly any type, as long as there’s no standing water, and it will adapt to some shade. When you’re ready to plant, dig a hole large enough to accommodate your plant’s roots, place your tree and backfill the soil and then water to settle the roots.

Watering

Water your Sonic Bloom® regularly during the first growing season, or about once per week. You may need to water more often during times of extreme heat. But if you’re not sure when to water your Weigela, however, simply check the soil about 2 to 3 inches down – if the soil is dry here, it’s time to water.

Fertilizing

Fertilize your Sonic Bloom® with a slow-release solution before new growth begins in the spring.

Pruning

Pruning is not necessary for your Sonic Bloom® Weigela – simply space your plantings to allow your Weigela to grow naturally. If you want a more formal appearance, prune annually after the second flowering period at the end of summer.
