DiamondLawnCare

Description

Get bright green, strong and full foliage with our evergreen Green Mound Junipers. Noted for its ability to grow as a bonsai, this moderate-growing pick is an ideal choice for groundcover or placement in any area where shorter shrubs are needed.

Even better? The hint of blue found in its deep green tones. And it keeps its rich color year-round, with minimal bronzing in the chillier months. But the best part is that it’s easy to grow, with good drought tolerance and adaptability to pollution. In fact, it even helps clear the air and stop soil erosion!

You get the benefits of a dense, full and healthful shrub because our Green Mound Junipers are planted and grown ahead of time. That means better results for you in your own landscape, with drought tolerance, soil adaptability, strong growth and a more developed root system. Our Green Mound Junipers are ready to perform, long before they ship and arrive to your door. Now, you’ll reap the rewards of stunning looks, hardy strength and versatility in your own garden.

Planting

First, choose an area with full sun and well-drained soil for your Green Mound Juniper. Any area that receives 6 to 8 hours of sunlight per day is ideal. With fertilizer and mulching, it will grow in a variety of soil types. But we do recommend placing your Green Mounds about 3 feet apart for best results. To plant your Green Mound, dig a hole deep enough to cover its root ball. After placing your plant, tamp down the soil while backfilling to avoid air pockets. Finally, mulch around the surrounding soil and water to settle the roots.

Watering

Once established, the Green Mound Juniper is drought tolerant, but it’s important to have a regular watering schedule for best growth. Generally, the Green Mound Juniper responds well to weekly watering. You may water more in times of drought or less in seasons with heavy rainfall. If you’re not sure when to water, though, simply check the soil – about 2 or 3 inches down. If the soil is dry at this depth, it’s time to water.

Fertilizing

Fertilize your Green Mound Juniper in early spring and again in mid fall. We recommend using an organic granular or water-soluble fertilizer for best results.

Pruning

Pruning isn’t required for your Green Mound, but if you’d like to shape it, it responds well to shearing.
